Howfield, Rachel

Installation artist, arts consultant, project manager and arts training.

Rachel Howfield is an installation artist, currently working with handmade felt, plant papers and digital projections. Her work explores how we become who we are, our public and private selves.

In 2004 she was awarded ACE funding to attend 3rd International Feltmakers Symposium in Kyrgyzstan. She was then awarded a place on ‘Visiting Arts’ Artist-to-artist scheme in 2005, to enable Tatiana Vorotnikova (Kyrgyz felt artist) to live and work with her in Scarborough for one week. They have sustained their relationship and are working towards an exchange exhibition in London and Bishkek.

Rachel is an arts consultant and project manager, with over 10 years of experience (most recent project, ‘Young Vision, Scarborough Art Gallery’s engage project’. She delivers training for artists, including ‘Community Art Skills’ and has written and regularly delivers an accredited course for University of Hull, ‘Unlock your Creativity’.
